North Carolina drops big game to N.C. State in ACC Football
N.C. State dominated the game against North Carolina on Saturday, November 22, 2008 in Atlantic Coast Conference College Football at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Wolfpack beat the Tar Heels 41-10. NCSU quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 279 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Wolfpack players were waving a North Carolina state flag proclaiming themselves the state champions. The Wolfpack have now won three straight while the Tar Heels have lost their last two.
The loss puts the Tar Heels out of contention for the Coastal Division lead and a shot at the ACC championship game. North Carolina must beat Duke to become .500 in the ACC.
The Wolfpack are looking to become bowl eligible as the go into the last weekend with a 5-6 record. The Pack hosts Miami at Carter-Finley.
The Heels started T.J. Yates. Coach Butch Davis replace Yates late in the game with Cameron Sexton who was cheered by the crowd in blue. Hakeem Nicks caught four passes for 56 yards.
Beside the fact the Wilson was the better quarterback, the Wolfpack dominated both sides of the ball. On the offense the Pack's Andre Brown rushed for 86 yards on 20 carries. Owen Spencer caught three passes for 94 yards and a touchdown.

It has been an intriguing year for the Triangle ACC football teams. North Carolina, N.C. State and even Duke have a lot of great talent on their rosters. UNC needs a win to secure a shot at a quality bowl game.
You can see what I see on the court next as I will not be shooting the last weekend of football. A special thanks to Steve Kirschner and Kevin Best of Carolina, Art Chase and Ben Blevins at Duke, and Annabelle Myers and Brian Reinhardt at N.C. State for making my Fall Saturdays go smoothly.
