The answer to the age old question "Why did the chicken cross the road?" had some clarity for this rooster drumming up customers for a fund-raising effort.
I passed the scene which was too colorful to pass up on a clear autumn day.
The chicken ambled toward the intersection after I parked my car. Perfect photo op as he crossed the road.
Columbus Day saw some cool, rainy weather which failed to negate the fun of playing a round of golf in support of a charity at Hope Valley Country Club.
The 2009 Kiddush Cup Golf Tournament teed off just after 9 o'clock this morning. The local scramble-style tournament is presented each year by the Durham-Chapel Hill Jewish Federation.
Just a quick posting of some loosely edited images of Thursday's Bocce action. I used a 5D Mark II for the first time. I have some video, too. I will post that when I figure out how.
Great camera I must say. I can definitely tell the difference between the 5D and the 5DmkII. I am obviously not an expert in video but was a little disappointed in the stills taken during video. Even though I am in aperture mode, it seemed to pick its own exposure settings. Maybe I should read the manual.

The Tar Heels won the National Basketball Championship Monday night. The celebration on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill was as expected. Bonfires were everywhere. Law enforcement kept most of the trees safe but were not as successful at keeping revelers off the man-made pedestrian traffic posts at Columbia Street.
After calling a few businesses to gain access to a rooftop, I stopped in at the Tarheel Book Store. They allowed me on to the rooftop which had a fairly unobstructed view.
The result was the above composite comprised of 7 images.
The past nine tournaments, I had either been on the road following teams or on deadline trying to get a few pictures of fire jumpers. I was happy to get a chance to view the scene from the bird's eye approach.
