Duke-Carolina Men's ACC Basketball, Part II



North Carolina seniors ended their regular season campaign with their second win over Duke to take the 2009 regular season championship rights.



Tyler Hansbrough led the Tar Heels with 17 points. The Blue Devils had a slim line-up with only eight players seeing action. Of those players, Jon Scheyer scored the game high with 24 points and Kyle Singler recorded 23 points.



The Tar Heels cut down the net on their bench end following the game with chants of "One More Year" directed toward Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington.




Seniors Tyler Hansbrough, Bobby Frasor and Danny Green drew the largest ovation as they took the microphone on Senior Night.

The teams are off to Atlanta this coming week for a much anticipated Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball tournament gets underway at the Georgia Dome.







Michael Jordan was on hand to see the action.



Quick Summary: Carolina beat Duke on Sunday, March 8, 2009 in men's ACC regular season college basketball at the Dean Smith Center. The Tar Heels beat the Blue Devils 79-71.
UNC's Tyler Hansbrough had 17 points, Danny Green had 12, Ty Lawson had 13, Deon Thompson scored 14 and Wayne Ellington finished with 16 total points.
Duke's Kyle Singler had 23, Gerald Henderson had 14 and Jon Scheyer scored 24.
The Tar Heels finished the regular ACC season as 2009 ACC Champions going 13-3 with a 27-3 overall record. Duke finished the ACC 11-5 and the regular season 25-6.
Referees for the game were Jamie Luckie, Bryan Kersey and Mike Eades.

Remembering Eve



Hundreds gathered to remember Eve Marie Carson on the first anniversary of her murder on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Pit on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus. Chancellor Holden Thorpe headed the gathering which included the bell tower chiming of "Hark the Sound".



Friends placed flowers on the butterfly bench behind the Campus Y as a tribute to Carson.



Friends of Eve were cordial to the media as photographers and videographers documented an emotional ceremony.

Duke Downs Florida State in a Cameron Thriller



Duke head basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski encouraged the crowd during the game and thanked the Cameron Crazies for their enthusiasm at the final home game of the 2008-09 season against Florida State in an 84-81 win over the Seminoles. Seniors Greg Paulus, David McClure and Martynas Pocius got the "W" in their last game at Cameron Indoor .



Gerald Henderson scored 21 points. Kyle Singler scored 20 points. Jon Scheyer had 17 points. Duke seniors Greg Paulus and David McClure scored 6 and 4, respectively.





FSU was led by Toney Douglas with 27 points. Uche Echefu had 18 points and Solomon Alabi had 12 points.
